Rick James was an American singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer who had a net worth of $250,000 at the time of his death in 2004. James experienced a decline in his career when he was dealing with personal and legal troubles in the 1990s. His stardom faded for much of the decade, but he reentered the public discourse after appearing on Chappell’s Show in 2004.
